Van De Leur Park in Yountville, California

By Mavis Butterfield on August 29, 2016 · 1 Comment

van de leur parkI was going through photographs of our summer trip to Napa yesterday when I realized I had never shared the photos I snapped of our walk through Van De Leur park.

It was a small park {that was formerly the site of an old fire station} and sits just down the street from The French Laundry in Yountville, California. Martha De Van Leur planted a rose garden there during the 1920’s as a gift to the residents of Yountville and it’s a perfect park to take a stroll through on a summer’s day.

If you are ever in the Napa Valley, it’s a great little spot for a picnic lunch or to read a book. I don’t know about you, but I love it when I happen upon a flower garden. 🙂

Have a great Monday everyone,

~Mavis

    Hi Mavis,

    I didn’t see a ‘contact’ link so I am putting this here…

First of all, I love your blog and all the lovely photos (keep it coming!)
I am an avid gardener, graphic designer and born and raised in Napa Valley.
I started working at the Town of Yountville a year and a half ago doing Marketing (mostly design stuff).

Actually I posted a link to this blog post about Van de Leur Park on The Town of Yountville’s FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/search/str/Town+of+Yountville+-+van+de+leur+park/keywords_top

So I know from reading your blog you are a Yountville fan and I just wanted to let you know we are having the 5th Annual Art Sip & Stroll event here on April 22nd if you like art, wine, music and food (will also have a Lagunitas beer garden!!! Taste bands are only $20 and benefit Yountville Arts! This would be a great day to visit Yountville- Hint Hint (Thank goodness for airbnb)

I went to this last year with my hubby and had a blast – (we walked through the French Laundry Gardens and found a carrot that they had dropped from harvesting that morning and totally ate it with no shame- haha) This year is going to be even bigger and better.

You can purchase tickets online now @ http://www.artsipstroll.com (i designed it!)

Hope you and the HH can make it and feel free to hit me up if you can:

Pull up a chair, grab some tea and join me as I dig for dinner in my Maine kitchen garden.
