The French Laundry Culinary Garden in Yountville, CA

By Mavis Butterfield on June 26, 2016 · 3 Comments

the french laundry garden

While we were in San Francisco last week we rented a car on two different days. The first day it was to drive out to Filoli Mansion in Woodside, California and to drive up the California coast and hit a beach or two on the way back.

The second day we rented a car we headed out to the Napa Valley and one of our stops was at the French Laundry culinary gardens {which are directly across the street from the French Laundry Restaurant}.

The French Laundry is owned by the famous chef Thomas Keller and dinner {which is a 9 course meal} goes for around $310 {tax, and tip not included of course}.

Now, I know I’ll never fork over $310 for dinner, but I will spend the morning ogling a good kitchen garden for free. And you should too if you are ever in the area. They have everything there. And it’s gorgeous.

Beets and more.

They even produce their own honey.

Or atleast, the bees do.

It seems to go on forever.

And there are chickens too. Don’t you love the setup? I think I want my next chicken yard to look like the one at the French Laundry.

A nice plot of potatoes.

I don’t know about you, but I could tour gardens all day long. There is just something about them that is so peaceful.

Have a great sunday everyone,

~Mavis

    Beautiful!
We expanded our garden this year and, honestly, I’m exhausted keeping up with it! I pruned my 65+ tomato plants this week, and I was doing some foliar feeding today and the ones I did four days ago seem to need it AGAIN. It gets so hot where I am that I have to garden between 6-10, and I do!

What are you going to do with all those tomato plants? I miss my old garden and the abundance of vegetables.

I could tour gardens all day long as well. On a recent trip to Virginia, I visited Monticello and paid the high (in my opinion) admission price because I wanted to see the gardens and you can’t do that without the house tour ticket. Gardens were amazing!

Pull up a chair, grab some tea and join me as I dig for dinner in my Maine kitchen garden.
