The thing I’m looking forward to most in January? Getting back out into the garden and tidying everything up. It feels like it’s been ages since I’ve dug in the dirt and it’s high time I get back to the business of gardening.

2017. Let’s make it a good one!

Happy New Year Everyone,

♥ Mavis & Lucy

Last spring in Texas I planted two organic sweet potatoes that had sprouted in a 6×6 plot. Last week, 5 days before Christmas, I dug up just over 55 lbs. of beautiful sweet potatoes! They are currently taking up my entire kitchen table as I am trying to figure out how to successfully cure them. Who knew they would be so prolific!

Are your “espaliered” trees supported in anyway? Are they ok unsupported, as in they’re dwarf and won’t get any bigger, if that exists? Just curious as I’d like to add some of these trees near our split-rail fence. Thanks! I look forward to whatever time you give and good luck with a fun and funkless 2017!

They are not supported right now and I am not sure if they are a dwarf variety or not. Good question!

Oh my gosh…the jealousy I’m going through! My yard and garden is covered in snow and ice. I tried to dig some of my mulched carrots but they are frozen solid…never had that happen before. And colder weather is on the way. It’s going to be a while before I can get out into the garden again. Thank your lucky stars.

We just moved into a house finally after almost 2 years of apt living after moving back to CO from TX. I had an amazing garden in TX and can’t wait to start a new one here! I even have windowsills and 2 decks to be able to get started.

Just need the snow to go away…..

      Sunny windowsills are the best!
