What can I say. The container gardens have gone bonkers. Next year I think I’ll add a trellis to each of the galvanized steel stock tanks so the tomatoes have more support. As of right now the containers have a few tomato cages in them but clearly, they need something else.
Oh well, live and learn I guess, right?
The flock is patiently waiting for me to harvest the cucumbers. They are taking a little longer than they should this year because the squash was blocking the sun from the front of the boxes. I pulled the patty pan squash from the left box last week, and this week I think I’ll go ahead and pull the zucchini plants from the box on the right.
After 4 good sized zucchini harvests already this summer, I think I’ve had my fill.
The side garden has been weeded and 3 rows of beets were planted. I started some more cabbage and lettuce under grow lights this week and will set those out just as soon as the temperatures drop into the upper 60’s/low 70’s.
We have a bunch of hosta plants in the front yard that need to get transplanted. Since this part of the backyard is nice and shaded, I was thinking about moving a few of them in between the cedar trees. We’ll see.
And lastly BLUEBERRIES! Check ’em out. I planted 9 1 gallon blueberry bushes this spring and they are already producing blueberries. Giddy up! Maybe next summer I’ll have enough for a pie.
