Beet red.
Last night we had roasted beets for a side dish. As I was peeling the giant globes of goodness the color was so intense I thought I’d try and make a dye out of peelings. I let the beet skins steep overnight and I’ll try dye some wool with them today. I LOVE experiments!!!
Somehow, last night a small rabbit snuck into the backyard and Lucy has been on the hunt ever since.
They don’t make shoes like they used to. Maybe I have high expectations… but the tread on a shoe should last longer than 6 months of minimal wear.
The pansies. They are up and running.
My weekend project. I’m hoping to craft something out of this old wooden pallet and give it to the HH for our 22nd anniversary. Care to make a guess as to what I’ll be making? 😉
Have a great weekend everyone,
~Mavis

Mavis, did you let the beet skins soak in water or vinegar? If water, do you do a vinegar rinse at any point to set the color?
Mavis Butterfield says
Right now they are soaking in hot water. I always do a vinegar rinse after boiling the wool. I’ll post an update when it’s all done.

Happy anniversary! We also celebrated our 22nd yesterday! Sadly, no pallet gifts were exchanged.
