August really is the “big show” when it comes to gardening. All of your hard work will pay off in the form of produce–produce that may even start to feel like more work than it’s worth. You’ll be picking, canning, and picking some more. You may even find yourself combing the streets looking to give food away. It’s the bounty of the harvest, and it’s occasionally a double edged sword.
I usually spend August glued to my canner trying to put up everything my garden throws at me. I’m a good little squirrel that way. I also like to start planting seeds for my fall garden in August. I start some indoors and direct sow some. It ensures me that I’ll get another round of cool weather veggies before it’s time to hibernate indoors for the winter.
In August’s eBook, I’ll go over storing some of your harvest for winter, including canning and dry storage. I’ll guide you through harvesting just about everything–the how’s and the when’s. There will even be a detailed guide on saving your own seeds for next year’s garden {spoiler alert: it’s waaaay simpler than people think}. We’ll gear up for fall blooming flowers, and reign in those strawberry runners. It’s gonna be a blast.
Now get out there and Dig For Your Dinner,
